A couple of things. First of all, the outpouring of love and support from Spider-Man fans this weekend has been…well I’m not gonna lie, it’s been awesome and I love you all.
With all that love, however, comes the great responsibility of reminding everyone to chill out a bit.
Was I saddened as…
Thank you for being awesome and taking the time to say this. I really hope the Twitter tag mentioning Drake Bell that’s been in use for the last day or two stops being used as a result. To me, both of you are Spider-man, both of you did wonderfully in your respective versions of the character.
holyshit
Well, he’s good, but no, guys. I promise you, Jim Cummings is responsible for the sounds of your childhoods.
Jim Cummings, Rob Paulsen, Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, Paul Winchell, Charlie Adler, Billy West, Tress MacNeille, Michael Bell, Corey Burton, Jeff Bennett, Townsend Coleman, etc… It’s a long list of people that could make up a major part of anyone’s childhood between the 80s and 90s into the 2000s and it’s almost shocking how many different roles some of them have had and you’d never suspect it was them until you checked the credits. A lot of them have just that much range and acting ability.
I don’t think a single one of them would want to lay claim to that above title, either, since the way it’s phrased makes it sound like it’s an honor that belongs solely to one actor. From what I’ve heard about so many people who do voice work, a lot of them are incredibly humble people who love their fans and consider themselves lucky to have the amazing jobs that they do.
Rob Paulsen’s Talkin’ Toons Podcast
Just shamelessly asked Rob Paulsen over Twitter (@yakkopinky) if he’d ever have Troy Baker (@TroyBakerVA), Josh Keaton (@joshkeaton) or Jason Spisak on his podcast. Because AAHHH Van Kleiss and Hal Jordan and Razer! I just started listening to Talkin’ Toons recently, as of maybe two months ago, but it’s a freakin’ fantastic podcast. Really interesting stuff on how a lot of these people broke into voice acting, what their backgrounds are, the parts they’ve played, the people they’ve worked with… It’s seriously good stuff. Plus Mr. Paulsen takes questions every week from Twitter and Facebook users for guests.
Some of the guests that have been on that may interest people following me (and this is by NO means a complete list, as there have been more than 30 podcasts recorded at this point)…
- Phil Lamarr (Samurai Jack, TFA Jazz, John Stewart, Baxter Stockman, etc.)
- Kevin Michael Richardson (TFP Bulkhead, GLTAS Kilowog, Panthro, TB Joker, etc.)
- Grey Delisle (Dr. Holiday, Aya, Daphne Blake, BBAtB Black Canary, etc.)
- Jennifer Hale (Black Knight, Fem!Shep, GLTAS Carol Ferris, Jean Grey, etc.)
- Jeff Bennet (TFA Prowl, Johnny Bravo, YJ Red Tornado, Kowalski, etc.)
- Tara Strong (Raven, Twilight Sparkle, Iolande, Timmy Turner, etc.)
